The plant family Menispermaceae was named and described as such by Antoine Laurent de Jussieu in Genera Plantarum in 1789.
As of 1-2-23 when I last updated this page, Plants of the World lists 76 genera in the family commonly referred to as the Moonseed Family.
As far as I know, the only species in the family I have run across is Menispermum canadense.
