I am not sure, but I have a plant also called Bill. nutans, but with a different architecture and slightly different bloom spike. The foliage on mine are more strict and upright, resembling a tuft of erect grass, while the floral spikes may be also more diminutive and less flamboyant, but greater in number. I have seen offers of both forms of this specie on the interweb, but what now strikes me as another differing feature is how late yer’s is performing!! Mid Summer!! Wow!! (Wish mine did!) Mine throw out their fireworks in late Winter/Earliest Spring….like clockwork and reliably, but well before the migrating hummers return. After some half hearted searching, I’ve assumed there are two varieties of this specie, but with yer post, I once again find my mind inquiring if’n we’re not culturing two different species? My Quixotic Quest is rekindled, now, and I once again have a mission in life!!

    • Hello there! This one even blooms in the basement over the winter. I would recommend going to iNaturalist and uploading a photo(s) of yours to get suggestions as to what species it is. It is addictive! I would like to know what you find out! Take care and thanks for the comment!
