1-8-24 SNOW!!!

Hello everyone! I hope this post finds you well. It rained almost all night and up until about noon. I checked the forecast and decided I better go to town because snow was in the forecast. Well, by the time I got to the car it had started snowing. I needed to go to the church because we have a leak in the roof and I thought I better check it. Fortunately, the floor was dry this time.

I didn’t check the time when the above photo was taken, and the time on the camera was whacky. It said it was taken at 3:03, but it was more like 1:03. I fixed that issue, even though I thought I had done it before.

By the time I was back home, the snow had started to accumulate. It was 34°F… I scattered some birdseed on the ground and filled the wooden feeder on the pole. The hanging feeder was fine. I put some birdseed on the porch railing so the bird could eat where it was dry.

I took several photos from the bedroom window but they didn’t come out so good…

Sometimes I would look out the window and there would be at least 50 birds. At other times there would be none… A few times I would try to take a shot and they would fly off in the blink of an eye. GEEZ! You would think they would learn to pose for the camera…

By 3 PM, I decided to give up on the birds and publish this post… The snow had let up and it was starting to fall off the trees. BUT, it isn’t over yet… It is supposed to snow for several more hours. Plus, it is supposed to snow tomorrow and again on Friday. Friday the temp is supposed to drop to 24. Yesterday, the forecast said it would get down to 9°F Friday night, now it says 6. The high on Saturday is supposed to be 19, with a low of 12. OK, I am not going to look beyond that. I am expecting an 80° heatwave! Ummm… I may have to take a trip for that.

Yesterday I was digging in the dirt and taking photos of the Wild (or Field) Garlic bulbs for a new page.

Until next time, be safe and stay positive. Depending on where you are, keep warm and/or stay dry. No matter what, always be thankful!

We had some snow here—not much, but today we have 30 mph winds and wind chill below 19* . I guess it IS winter!!

  3. The snow is so pretty. Just rain for us in the South, but temperatures are heading to the mid 30’s and my warm weather plants don’t like that.

    • Hello Judy! I won’t admit to the snow being “pretty”. My plants have been inside since late October. At first they grumble about it, but they change their tune when they see the snow through the window. When I lived in Mississippi, the coldest it got was 19… Stay warm! Take care and thanks for the comment!

My goodness! We don’t have snow, of course, but we did just have a strong frontal passage that took us from 74F to 50F in about a half hour. It’s windy now and very cold. My birdies will be happy for their rations in the morning! Stay warm, and enjoy the prettiness!

  5. Glad the church roof is holding out. Nice to see the birds feeding.

    • Hello Simon! We spent a lot of money on the roof last year, or maybe the year before. It started leaking a few months ago and I told the property chairman he needed to call the “guy” to fix that spot. It’s a spot that hadn’t leaked before, so it could be running down under the tile. The birds have been happy for sure! Take care and thanks for the comment!

      • It’s one of those bridge painting jobs isn’t it? You fix one bit of roof and the next problem starts . . . 🙂

        • I wasn’t exactly involved in the roof job, but I thought the entire roof was taken care of. The tuck pointing and structure was taken care of by another company and the roof by another. We spent a lot of money…

We are having a lot of snow and cold temps ahead and the furnaces at the church are getting worked on. We discovered only 3 out of 7 were working. Ummm… The property manager and his wife are headed for Aruba. I am on the committee, a trustee, an elder, and custodian.

Snow and now cold? This winter is starting to get a little too brave for my taste! Hopefully it’s short-lived, you kind of get used to having mild weather all the time and I like running around all winter without a heavy coat!
