It looks like someone was doing a little roaming with a flash attachment — or a flashlight! These critters have turned suddenly loud down here, and just after sunset, they almost vibrate the trees they’re on.

    • Hello Linda! I was out late working on the electric fence around the garden (deer issue) when I spotted this guy. I had to go to the chicken house to check the “numbers” where it is plugged in and the Cicada was on a Horsetail that had sprouted in the yard. The flash on the camera works pretty well for some after-dark shots. They haven’t been really loud here yet, but I remember before they would almost run you into the house. You may have to wear ear plugs. 🙂 Take care and thanks for the comment!

Haha, a cicada for silent Sunday…
I love coming across surprises like this, a butterfly emerging, a dragonfly coming out of the water… a snake shedding its skin…
ok so maybe not everyone would like the last 🙂

    • Hello Frank! You never know what you will come across anytime 24 hours a day. I watched a Cicada through the whole process when I was a kid. We were at my grandparent’s home (my dad’s parents) and I spotted it on a tree next to their driveway. It was quite interesting. I have not witnessed a dragonfly coming out of the water or a snake sheding it’s skin, but I have seen a butterfly emerging when I was in school. The teacher had several caccoons we were keeping an eye on. Take care and thanks for the comment!
