Crocus Flowers At Last!

Crocus sp. on 3-6-26.

Hello everyone! I hope this post finds you well. I feel like I’ve been hibernating over the winter and seeing the Crocus in bloom have perked me up a little. We had a fairly mild winter with only a little snow. Temperatures have been up and down, though, with the forecast changing off and on. We had rain this past week with a couple of storms Friday night. Spring isn’t officially here until March 20, at least that’s what the calendar says. I keep remembering the snow we had on May 1 in 2013!

I’m not sure how long the Crocus have been blooming in the yard since a friend posted his blooming in his yard last week.

The earliest I have taken photos of them was on February 21 in 2024, and February 22 in 2023. The latest was on March 20 in 2022…

There are now three colonies… Interestingly, the first time dad and I saw them was in 2019, so I think they have done pretty well. They weren’t here when I lived here in the 1980’s and dad had never saw them since they moved here in 1996.

I still haven’t figured out the species or how in the world they came to live in the yard… Even so, they always put a smile on my face…

Until next time, take care, be safe, stay well, always be thankful! As always, GET DIRTY!
