The Sarraceniaceae Family was named and described by Barthélemy Charles Joseph Dumortier in Analyse des Familles de Plantes in 1829.
Plants of the World Online lists three accepted genera in this family of pitcher plants. It includes 1 species of Darlingtonia, 18 species of Heliamphora, and 19 species of Sarracenia.
