HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hello everyone! I hope this post finds you well. We had a lot of wind and rain during the night then it started getting quiet. I could still hear a few drops hitting the vent in the restroom (attached to my bedroom) off and on. I gt up and went to the kitchen maybe at 5 AM and I looked outside and could tell the rain had frozen and it was “S-ing” just a little but it was very fine.
It was a good thing I bought bird food yesterday and filled the feeders… I hadn’t seen many birds until this morning. Even a Tufted Titmouse made an appearance but she wouldn’t sit still long enough to get a photo.
You know I am not a big “S” fan, but I have to admit it looks pretty neat stuck to the ice on the branches.
Jade wanted outside, so I opened the front door so she could go on the porch. She poked her head out then changed her mind. Later on, she decided to go out for a spell but she didn’t get off of the porch…
I hope we all have a much better 2021. We have had our ups and downs during 2020 with COVID and the election ordeal, but hopefully, soon they will both be behind us so we can move forward with a brighter future…
Until next time be safe, stay well, stay positive, and always be thankful.
You have snow, I have 80°F at 7am. Opposite sides of the world! A very happy and healthy New Year, Lonnie. Stay safe and warm, and I hope you get your vaccine soon.

Hello Kate! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU, TOO. GEEZ! 80° sounds great! Maybe I should come for a visit but no telling what I would come back to in the spring. A few limbs fell out of a tree across the street (in the street)and no one is living there now. SO, I took the chainsaw and cut them up and moved them out of the road. Then I noticed two big limbs fell out of an elm tree… On my pickup. LOL! I wanted them cut out of the tree but they were too high up. Mother nature helped me out… Take care and thanks for the comment!

Happy New Year to you too!! We also got snow – about 4 inches. It was a gorgeous way to start the new year!

Hello Laura! I am glad we didn’t get 4″! GEEZ! I had some limbs to cut and move out of the street from the neighbor’s yard across from me. No one is living there now. Then I had cut two big limbs that fell out of the elm tree on my pickup. I hope that is it for the ice storms for everyone. They do so much damage. Take care and thanks for the comment!

Today, we have about 2” of new snow on top of 9” from late Tuesday. Melanie and I went out for a snowshoe hike before lunch. Boy, did we nap soundly later.

Hello Jim! ARE YOU KIDDING? NINE INCHES ON TUESDAY? Now you have 11? That is just NUTS! The snowshoe hike does sound like fun, though. Glad to hear you had a good nap afterward. Take care and thanks for the comment!

‘Wintry mix’ – the two most dreaded weather words, IMO! Hope your truck isn’t too dinged.

Hello Eliza! Oh yes! You are right about that. The pickup just has a dent on the bed. Thankfully no windows were broken. Take care and thanks for the comment!

Hi Lonnie
That is such a beautiful picture with the bird on the feeder, You know I love to see the snow-! It’s funny how snow affects noise & as you say it gets quiet. It’s definitely part of the magic
Stay safe and have a happy 2021 🙂

Hello Debbie! Birds are always fun to watch but taking their photos can be a bit of a challenge. I do like the quietness of the snow but it really isn’t on my top ten list. 🙂 You stay safe and have a happy 2021 as well. Take care and thanks for the comment!

Your photos are beautiful. I am not a fan of snow, but better this time of year than March, I suppose

Hello Linda! I am struggling with a reply… But, I suppose you are right about getting snow now rather than later. It is supposed to “S” during the winter and it would be rather odd if it didn’t… Take care and thanks for the comment!

Yes, snow does at least look pretty!
When we were out this lunchtime – at a farm about five miles from here – it started snowing. It looked beautiful and I nearly took a photo but decided I’d wait till I got home. Only, a couple of miles up the motorway, suddenly the grass was green again. Hmm!

Hello Helen! GEEZ! That happens a lot with me but it is usually because I don’t have my camera with me. I don’t have a cell phone. Hopefully, you can get a good “S” photo next time. Take care, stay warm, and thanks for the comment!

Thanks! The weather forecast is for more of the stuff but it’s often wrong. I hope so, as I’ve planned for work in the garden tomorrow.
Hope you’re warm, too!

You are welcome! You just never know about the weather. Working in the garden sounds a lot better that dealing with the snow and ice. I am staying warm, thanks.

Yes. The ice is sliding off the roof today but it is still hanging on the trees.

Happy New Year!
I probably said before that S is fascinating to those of us who lack experience with it. I experienced it in Oklahoma, and although it was like totally rad, it was no longer so totally rad after it lingered for a few days. It was just a little bit. I can not imagine what much more of it is like. There is significant show in the Sierra Nevada, but I do not go there.

Goodness! That just reminded me that I would be going there in two weeks if my annual trip there had not been cancelled.

Winter is always nice to look at for the first few days, and then it gets old fast. Hopefully it will be a cold January, a not bad February, and then DONE 🙂
Happy New Year!

Hello Susan! I had a pretty good 2020 for the most part, but there is always room for improvement. The “S” is all gone now, which is always a good thing. 🙂 Take care and thanks for the comment!
